Meet Kurt Vile

Got an email from the Kurt Vile people today. They say go listen to his new disc before it's out (release is next Tuesday 3/8) on NPR First Listen. OK I'll do that.

Quick rundown on Kurt:

• He is/was in the band The War On Drugs. They are good. They released the Future Weather EP last year. If you're new to them, start with that for sure.
• His solo stuff has similar production value but the melodies are headed in a different direction, the mood is different and there's a little more space between instruments. 
• War On Drugs is definitely a little easier on the first-time ears. (Track for sampling below.) 
• He's out on tour with his other band, The Violators, now.
• The War On Drugs is also on tour in different cities on the same nights so I'm guessing Kurt won't be there. Oh well. Good tunes.
• He's a prolific music-maker.
